The Sierra Club has selected the Ice Age National Scenic Trail for national recognition in their America's Great Outdoors collection of sites requiring urgent and bold action. The trail was selected as a "place of national significance" that is threatened but can be saved with our effort.
Dale Schaber, of Appleton, nominated the trail for this attention nationally. If you were at the July Potluck you may have met Dale, who with Penny happened to be hiking through our area on the day of our meeting.
