Upcoming 50th Anniversary Annual Conference of Ice Age Trail being held on Campbellsport, April 16-20, was discussed.  Items of particular interest:

Bylaw changes to be voted on include trail building and how membership dues will be allocated back to each Chapter.

Donations will be accepted for both the Silent Auction and “tick” market.

Old Business:

Richard distributed handout of “Trail Maintenance Sections and Trail Adopters.”  All sections of the Chippewa Moraine Chapter have been adopted.

At the present time, the Chapter does not have a designated Trail Maintenance Coordinator, so trail problems will be reported to Richard Smith.

A volunteer for the Events Coordinator would be appreciated.

Approximately 169 people will participate in a 50k run on a portion of the Chippewa Moraine section of the Ice Age Trail on April 12, 2008.

New Business:

Chippewa Moraine Chapter will accept the $5 per member stipend this year

National Trails Day -- Mammoth March.  This is an event in which every mile of the trail will be hiked or ran on one day, June 7, 2008.  Group and individual participants such as Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, running clubs, National Guard, etc. are encouraged to adopt a section of the trail.  Diane and Richard will help with the organization of the event for the Chippewa Moraine section.

The DNR has implemented “Power Equipment Operator Requirements” for everyone working on the trail and using power equipment such as lawn mowers, chainsaws, string mowers, power pruners, etc.  The Foundation will help pay for the required hard hats, ear protection, face/eye protection, leather gloves, leather boots, training, etc.  Mike Rivers will contact the West Central Safety Coordinator to clarify some of the requirements.

Chippewa County Forestry will have a public meeting to present their 15 year plan on March 24.  Attendance and input is encouraged.

Purchase of a lawn mower or string mower was discussed.  There is a lot of interest in a string mower and it will be checked into further.

The next meeting will be held May 19th at the Chippewa Falls Library @ 6:00

Meeting was adjourned at 8:10.
